There are some problems you have to solve before you even become aware of or appreciate the scope of other problems. The bottom level is called "base infrastructure" and includes things like desktops, networks, etc.--the stuff that it takes to just make the enterprise go everyday. |

Adirondack Snowmobile Plan: Quiet Release, Loud Response (Dec 27 2003 03:46 GMT) - Late yesterday, the Pataki administration released a landmark plan for snowmobiles in the Adirondacks. State conservation officials say the proposal would create a new snowmobile network, connecting towns and villages across the Park. Most of the revamped trail system would cross the forest preserve, though some routes would be shifted to private land. As Brian Mann reports, snowmobilers and environmentalists were quick to attack the draft plan. Both sides say the proposal offers too little information. |

New Research: Adirondack Wetlands Holding Steady (Dec 27 2003 03:46 GMT) - The Adirondack Park Agency has completed a survey of wetlands in the Park, based on analysis of aerial photographs. In other parts of the country, wetlands have been overrun by development. But researchers here say wetland areas are holding steady. Ortloff/Sayward Propose Emergency Relief Package for Medicaid (Dec 27 2003 03:46 GMT) - While the state Senate was laying out a proposal to ease Medicaid problems long-term, their Republican colleagues in the state Assembly were announcing short-term fixes. North Country Assemblyman Chris Ortloff and Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward yesterday proposed a $200 million emergency relief package for Upstate counties. Individual counties would be reimbursed for some of their Medicaid costs, from $78,000 in Hamilton County to $2.5 million in Saratoga County. Sayward says the money would help local governments. |
