Great Day (Dec 27 2003 23:25 GMT) - Great DayGot a lot done today, worked out and also had a terrific lunch at a sushi restaurant with a friend. Excellent food, excellent conversation. One thing's for sure. I don't know squat about Japanese food really. I still take forever looking blankly at the menu and for all the tekka maki I've eaten you'd think I'd remember what's what, but I don't. |

He screamed like a panther in the middle of the night (Dec 27 2003 23:24 GMT) - (Name that tune!) We are so lucky to have Apple Computer. This year they have refreshed most of their range of cunningly designed, sexy, useful, intricate devices and then last week when I thought they had gone a bit quiet they made available new vers |

Just when you think a technology has been surpassed by the next big thing, it sneaks up on you again. For years there have been various attempts to do interesting things with PDAs in the classroom. Used N-Gage games trickle in (Dec 27 2003 23:23 GMT) - This weeks GameStop/FuncoLand ads were nestled between the Sunday comics and Dave Barry's 2003 year in review. At the bottom of page three there were some listings that I had not seen before: used N-Gage games. Currently listed are MLB Slam!, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Virtua Tennis. |

Motorola V300 in short supply... wait for the V600? (Dec 27 2003 23:23 GMT) - I decided to take the pulse of GSM phones available in the US today, and I noticed a curious thing. T-Mobile has dropped the Motorola V300 from its list of phones in my area. From what I've heard locally, the V300 and the Treo 600 have been the two hottest phones around town this holiday season. Amazon lists the T-Mobile V300 as not stocked or discontinued. I would have to conclude that either there was a huge demand for V300's over the holidays and T-Mobile does not expect any more in stock for quite some time, or for some odd reason Motorola is phasing out the V300 already. |

Migration vers Thunderbird! |

New Category (Dec 27 2003 23:22 GMT) - The Streets Category has expanded much beyond its original scope. It was created to relate EMS stories and news to my readership, but it has become the repository for everything medical. As such, I felt it was past time to create a Medical Category. This category will hold all the general medicine and medical news I come across that doesn't in some way relate directly to EMS but might be of interest to my readers. I now have 17 active categories on this site! |

Over The Line (Dec 27 2003 23:22 GMT) - I don't know where "the line" really is, but the title of Sean Hannity's new book steps way over it. The new book, coming in March 2004, is "Deliver Us From Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism." Sometimes liberals are misguided, naive, or just plain... |

A Bad Scene (Dec 27 2003 23:18 GMT) - At a restaurant in Queens today an Asian woman lugging a suitcase goes from table to table offering DVDs for $5. Movies that are currently in the theaters. I had never seen this before. I found it disheartening. Calling this piracy is totally fair, imho. |

Feeling generous? (Dec 27 2003 23:18 GMT) - And while I'm feeling a bit generous in the waning days of this year, I mosied over to the Electronic Freedom Foundation site and dropped a few bucks on them too. Seems they're not as efficient as some organizations about hitting up their members for annual donations, so I'm glad I checked on when my last donation was--last year. They deserve my help as much as the ACLU or Amnesty International, who are also looking out for our rights at a time when we need to be extra vigilant about not losing them. |
