Blame Canada IV (Dec 29 2003 22:27 GMT) - I'm not blaming anyone for the fact that cows get mad cow disease. I'm only saying the USDA is responsible for making sure such meat doesn't enter the food chain. Pointing out responsibility isn't necessarily placing blame, a lesson Howard Dean unfortunately never learned. Positive note: despite quarantines, transportation limitations and the killing of livestock on dozens of farms in Europe the past years, there hasn't been a single day I wasn't able to buy beef. |

Saddam Will Squeal like a Stuck Pig ! (Dec 29 2003 22:26 GMT) - Hmmm..... a "high level Europeans source." Thats certainly not a British source. Count the French and Germans out, they have too much to lose themselves if Saddam starts talking about United Nations banned weapons and their transfer during the sanctions. That leaves Spain (coalition member) Russia, and a bunch of non-descript European Unionists. |

Dean's Own Private Kaffeeklatsch (Dec 29 2003 22:23 GMT) - Seems Howard Dean, who's lambasted Dick Cheney for holding "secret" energy meetings with energy industry executives, had his own private deliberations - and he used the exact same arguments Cheney has used to keep the Task Force's records sealed. Dean's spin? Dean said his group developed better policy in a bipartisan manner, seeking advice not just from energy executives but environmentalists and advocates for the poor. He said his task force was more open because it held a public hearing and divulged afterward the names of people it consulted even though deliberations were held in secret. The Vermont task force "is not exactly the Cheney thing," Dean said. |
