Store Bought Vs. Home Grown (Dec 29 2003 23:49 GMT) - When I first started role playing we used a handful of miniatures we got from our dad, and some of those Star Wars toys that were also miniatures. If you grew up in the 80's you might remember these toys: they were small miniature metal figures that came from classic scenes from the Star Wars universe. We also used a handful of plastic soldiers to represent villains and other bad guys. What I wouldn't have given at the time for a set of fantasy miniatures who were fully painted and ready to use. |

House under contract (Dec 29 2003 23:47 GMT) - We signed our contract yesterday on a new home. We have a cul-de-sac lot with one of the "proposed" nature trails running behind the house. I hope they build the trails where they proposed to build them. To further the possibility that this will happen, the plat shows a 20 foot construction easement behind our property in the area where the trail is proposed to go. |

New Spam Law Won't Stop Number One Spammer (Dec 29 2003 23:46 GMT) - Alan Ralsky is famous as one of the top spammers around, so the NY Times went to see what he had to say about the new CAN SPAM law. While he says that he's upset at how "one-sided" it is, it won't do anything to stop him from spamming. He claims that he'll go legit with a real opt-out address in emails, but it's tough to believe that, when he claims in the same article that he's become an expert at hiding his identity in how he sends out spam. He also says that he can't stop spamming because there's "too much money" to be made - even if (he claims) it's been getting more expensive lately to keep ahead of all those filters. It's also amusing to see him blame "the internet" for "forcing" him to hide his identity online. |
