The endless story (Dec 30 2003 13:59 GMT) - In Does the End Justify the Means, Ken Camp at Digital Common Sense offers some thoughtful responses to (mostly arguments against) World of Ends.Later, if I have time (which I don't right now), I'll respond. Meanwhile, it's good to see the essay continues to provoke discussion. |

Still, we're talking about some big moles here (Dec 30 2003 13:59 GMT) - In The Molehills of Identity, Bryan Field-Elliot offers some highly knowing inside perspective on the matter of digital identity standards creation that I wrote about yesterday.First, he does the best job I've seen yet at a nutshell description of how digital identity works, conceptually:XML provides structure.PKI adds authenticity and trust.Protocols describe how to publish and consume the stuff. |

Buddhists, Get Your Free Gas Here (Dec 30 2003 13:57 GMT) - Smoky Joe, JD - Legal Punk to Wealth Ryan Overbey: check out this article about a recent self-immolation by a Vietnamese Buddhist in Charlotte. Washington Times: No other platform 'is as enjoyable and crash-free as the Macintosh' (Dec 30 2003 13:57 GMT) - "This year's introduction of ITunes [sic] by Apple Computer has won plaudits from all over. It is, for my money, the smoothest, most sensible and easiest-to-use music-download service. It runs on Windows and Macintosh computers. And it's just plain fun," Mark Kellner writes for The Washington Times. "'Fun,' frankly, is a word that can be used to describe other Mac features, as I'm into my second year of doing just about everything on a Mac, both at work and at home. |

LG 'will persist' with Smart Display, even after Microsoft drops it (Dec 30 2003 13:54 GMT) - "The Smart Display, a year old, will not make it to 2.0 Microsoft has told the unfortunate manufacturers who partnered with it in the doomed venture. The idea of a flat panel display which you could pick up and carry around the house sounded like a brilliant idea when it was first mooted, since all it needed was a (presumably, cheap) Windows CE processor and a wireless link. At the time it was not quite as obvious as it is now that it was a dead duck. Now, according to ET News, Microsoft has de... |
