So, I guess she's a neo-con now (Dec 30 2003 15:59 GMT) - (Review) It's been said that a conservative is just a liberal who's gotten mugged. For Amy MacKinnon, the mugging came on 11 September, 2001. She writes that she'll be voting for W in 2004. Well, kudos for coming over from... |

MobileRss now in use. (Dec 30 2003 15:58 GMT) - I finally got round to installing mobilerss as mentioned previously on the Axim. The import of my 97 feed opml file went well and the page was set up in avantgo easily enough. The only problem is that it comes down as several html pages as opposed to content in a database, so there is no "unread" messages capability, which is a shame as I've really got used to it in other rss readers. I think what I might do is set up my new feeds page from FeedOnFeed to be synched with avantgo instead. |

Cows don't get names, but they sure need passsports (Dec 30 2003 15:56 GMT) - I probably should do some more updates about the US mad cow, so here we go with a little finger pointing mayhem: KineticKen and Dave Noisy noted that the US response to the discovery of BSE within its borders was to quickly blame Canada, which, as a Canadian paper points out, might be premature. We'll know soon enough after some DNA testing takes place, and as Ken notes, it wasn't that long ago that the US was (incorrectly) pointing at Canada for the big August blackout. In any event, what's interesting to me right now is the dispute over the cow's age - the Americans think that she was born in 1999, 2 years after the "don't feed cows to cows" rule went into effect. If cows are getting BSE some other way or (*gasp*) some folks aren't following the guidelines, that whole "we don't need to test our cattle" argument loses most of its nonexistent power, don't it? |

Better (and more vegan) than the ones you could make in the kitchen (Dec 30 2003 15:56 GMT) - As with all estimates, vacation time allotments should be padded, lest you end up in the peculiar situation of having to take more time off than you expected. Still, we persevere, and hope to resume whatever it was we used to call a normal schedule in a week or so. Continuing the "someone might have a use for this" theme, we bring you Bacon Buddies, which I guess could make for some interesting outreach events. (via Geisha) |
