Software Assists Mobile Senators with Mobile Access to Data (Dec 31 2003 05:03 GMT) - US Senators and their staffs are the quintessential mobile employees, spending a large percentage of time each month traveling between their home and Washington DC offices. While away from their desks, Senators and staff must continue to be informed about the latest information, including their changing schedules, press meetings and current policy papers, involving more than 33 topics. As mobile employees, US Senators and their staffs posed a significant challenge to the technology office of the Republican Conference within the Senate. The technology office needed to take a large amount of Web-based information hundreds of thousands of pages of data and deliver them to Senators and their staff when they were away from their desks, whether they were journeying back to their home states, headed to a policy debate or traveling to an interview. Using their PDAs in conjunction with proven M-Business Anywhere software, they realized that they would be able to extend existing Senate Web-based applications and data to those same mobile devices. |
