Fingerprinting = Genocide (Dec 31 2003 07:36 GMT) - Starting 5 January, citizens of countries such as Brazil who need a visa to enter the United States will be fingerprinted and photographed when they pass through immigration at major US airports and seaports. The procedure is meant to identify people who have violated immigration controls, have a criminal record or belong to groups the US government lists as "terrorist" organisations. The checks will not be carried out against citizens of 27 nations who do not need a visa to enter the US. "I consider the act absolutely brutal, threatening human rights, violating human dignity, xenophobic and worthy of the worst horrors committed by the Nazis," said Federal Judge Julier Sebastiao da Silva in the court order released on Tuesday. - AlJazeera |

Snow on Bainbridge Island (Dec 31 2003 07:33 GMT) - It doesn't happen very often here, but it's snowing tonight. Julie popped in to tell me and to look at it out the back doors of my office. This is going to make for an early morning, because once the kids find out it's snowing there'll be a small riot ;-) |

Fixing computers (Dec 31 2003 07:31 GMT) - So, they had some trouble with the computers at the office. They have two computers, the one on the right had trouble accessing the internet, which was solved by going to winipcfg and releasing and renewing the IP. Voila, everything worked fine after that. The other problem was that originally, they had Printer Sharing between the two computers, but that obviously didn't work when the computer on the right lost its network connection. Eventually, the computer technicians didn't know what to do, so they just connected the printer to the left computer, and they still couldn't get the computer on the right to print. |
