DONALD SENSING is back from ... (Dec 31 2003 23:31 GMT) - DONALD SENSING is back from vacation, and is posting on a number of topics including the worthlessness of the Army's 9mm pistol. I've fired it, and I wasn't impressed -- it was heavy, for a 9mm, but somehow felt cheap. (Of course, I mostly shoot Sigs, so everything feels cheap... |

http://archive. scripting. com/2003/12/31#When:5: (Dec 31 2003 23:31 GMT) - A new header for a new year. Taken at the last game of the World Series, at Shea Stadium in Flushing, NY on 10/30/00. The Mets are in the field, a Yankee at bat as the pitcher winds up and throws. At first I thought I'd use the ancient Shea scoreboard, but it didn't work as well as the infield. |

Some 2003 site stats (Dec 31 2003 23:30 GMT) - I did a quick review of the 2003 stats for this site. Last time I posted my stats, Jeffrey Zeldman slammed my bad manners, but Cory thought it was fine and pointed out that he posts his stats ever new year. Liz points out in that thread that my site includes comments (and puts them in the same html as my entry for all of Google to index). Of the 8475 posts on my blog, 1247 are entries from me and 7288 are comments from YOU. This blog is more about community than a site with no participation. |

By Dan Savage (Dec 31 2003 23:30 GMT) - By Dan Savage Asked to share their favorite, fondest, and most cherished (sex-related) holiday experiences, my readers sent in so many uplifting, deeply moving, Chicken-Soup-for-the-Pervert's stories that I couldn't possibly fit them all into one column. Last week's column was devoted to Christmas and Hanukkah stories; this week I'm giving over the column to my readers' favorite, fondest, and ...( ...more... |

And Tidings of Comfort And Joy (Dec 31 2003 23:30 GMT) - 2003 was a year to remember. Let's hope that 2004 brings more good, less bad, and whole lot more common ground. It's December 31st! Time for bloggers everywhere to wax rhapsodic about what they learned in 2003. I learned this year that: |

Phoblog, Moblog, Schmoblog (Dec 31 2003 23:30 GMT) - Thanks to a couple of conversations with my friend Nick from high school, I am once again in a state of distress over the disparate levels of gadgetry between the United States and Japan. Adam: we're still working on polyphonic... |

Run a Mailing List? You Have to CAN SPAM, Too! (Dec 31 2003 23:27 GMT) - I was just reading through some aspects of the CAN-SPAM law which goes into effect January 1, 2004, and realized that it is broadly applicable to normal email lists that have no ostensible commercial purpose. (Oddly, the bill was indexed incorrectly, so the key section -- number five -- is available only by scrolling down in Section 3.) That is, if you're running a regular email list that has links to a Web site that is commercial in nature (shows ads, sells a product, you make money in some fashion from it), you might need to comply with the requirements of the law. Note that I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. Discuss any specific issues about this with licensed legal talent! |

Gimpus: Pantera (Death Metal Mayhem) (Dec 31 2003 23:26 GMT) - Ah, the wonders of Pantera...One of my favorite bands. Pantera's pretty kick ass by all counts, but my favorite album is The Great Southern Trendkill. It's heavy, fast, and Phil's vocals are still wild as shit. My second favorite is Vulgar Display of Power, which I think is Phil's overall best performance, but TGSTK is, in my opinion, the band's overall best performance. |

Paris Hilton Video (Dec 31 2003 23:24 GMT) - You know, for as much spam as I get about the Paris Hilton Video, and for as much as people are talking about it, you'd think there'd be a shitload of places hosting it that aren't like professional porn/spamhauses. Here I decided "I'll see what all the fuss is about with this damned video"... I've never been a huge porn-hound, but it's not like it disgusts me or anything... Thing is, it's damned near impossible for me to find a copy. ; |
