Here Comes The Academy - Where once there was a cinema (Jan 02 2004 02:55 GMT) - In case you haven't seen the posters around town, the night club going into the old Center Cinema is opening on 23-Jan-04 and is going to be called "The Academy" Their horrid flash based site is available here (Can anyone report on what the sound is like? no audio on this machine) and "inTheMix" is reporting on the launch here. We'll try and get in touch with management and arrange to cover this event properly as it's going to be the biggest thing to hit Canberra nightlife in a while. |

Harold Upton loses his fireworks licence (Jan 02 2004 02:55 GMT) - ABC Online is reporting here on the peculiar Harold Upton (Self described "financial advisor and provider of policy advice to the Commonwealth as such issues as "Australia’s Research Capacity, Artificial Intelligence, International Law of the Sea, NASA Space Program, and Commonwealth of Australia’s Archives"). Harold has lost his fireworks licence, and his appeal, but is (of course) talking about going to the High Court. Despite losing his licence he's still got a licence to do the fireworks for Summernats. |
