Well that was a hell of a day! (Jan 03 2004 12:55 GMT) - I feel sick. No longer just a little "icky" sick, but sick. Yesterday was not a banner day. I finished my shift at work feeling like death, and booked off sick for Friday night. Then driving along Roselawn Avenue some... |

Blogging and RSS in Schools (Jan 03 2004 12:55 GMT) - This should be from the "Shameless Self-Promotion" dept., but here is a piece I wrote for MultiMedia & Internet @ Schools. Kind of interesting actually, in the midst of this somewhat unsettling conversation about blog hype, that this very rah-rah article about Weblogs and RSS comes out now. Not that I'm not still a big believer in this stuff, but just because we seem to be hitting a very natural and necessary bump that is exposing some of the messiness that the article can't get to. In fact, it seems more and more of us are reassessing what all of this means, including some of the bigger names in the "industry. |

Blog Hype, Con't (Jan 03 2004 12:55 GMT) - The discussion over the worth of Weblogs as a writing tool grows. Tom writes that we have a pretty good idea of what tools we need, but it's difficult to find the one that fits all of our needs. It is apparent that weblog technologies suggest improvements in lots of facets of school work, but currently don't provide a perfect fit for any. Weblog tools are, hopefully, good at helping you write a weblog and/or read other people's weblogs. They're simple and flexible enough to be stretched in different directions, but it shouldn't be surprising that there are better tools for other specific problems. |

Rhapsody (Jan 03 2004 12:55 GMT) - Totally off topic, but I just have to rave about Rhapsody which will probably be the end of my CD buying days. I know it's not new, but after a write-up in the Times today, I decided to try it out. About $100 a year to listen to as much streamed music as I can fit into my day from over 400,000 songs in their library. If I want to burn any of the songs to CD, I just buy each for 79 cents. (Not every song can be written to CD, however. |

The Blogosphere (Jan 03 2004 12:51 GMT) - The Command Post has its own 'inside sources'. A source close to the flight investigations has informed The Command Post that the cancellations and escorts are not related to specific terror attacks, but to the refusal of Air France and British Airways, among other airlines, to allow armed U.S. Marshalls on board their flights. Why should I even bother to... |
