Debt Implosion (Jan 06 2004 14:59 GMT) - Consumers have reached a record debt [1] level of $1.98 trillion in October 2003. This is approximately $18,700 per household - not including home loans. This figure is relevant to the war on terror for a reason usually not mentioned: A terrorist attack could seriously shock the economy and lead to a momentary confidence crisis. |

Rose, in New Book, Admits Betting on His Team (Jan 06 2004 14:58 GMT) - Rose, in New Book, Admits Betting on His Team: The admission by Pete Rose sets in motion a process that may win him reinstatement to baseball and election to the Hall of Fame. [I hate the fact that he's been lying all these years, playing the injured party, etc. But the hall of fame has to do with achievements on the field and I suspect there other morally bankrupt folks in the hall. So enough is enough, give him what he earned on the field, but keep him out of baseball now. |
