The Charged Window Fallacy (Jan 07 2004 19:10 GMT) - Martin McPhillips of Union Square Journal is happy to defend Bush's deficit spending:I'll happily take on the modest challenge of explaining the economic purpose of the deficit spending, and even stipulate up front that the Republicans are also certainly aware of the "all politics is local" advantages of filling the trough. Briefly, when the stock market bubble burst, when manufacturing seemed determined to stay in recession, when the September 11 attacks delivered a... |

1&1 free hosting (Jan 07 2004 19:10 GMT) - If you're in the US or Canada you should definitely sign up for 1&1's free hosting deal. It's almost the same package that I use already (from the UK version of the company), but completely free for 3 years. The control panel I get is graphical, slow and irritating; the online support is useless and the email support never really gives you what you want (for example, I can't work with Unicode as they're running an older version of Perl and won't install extra modules). The server though is really fast and hasn't been down at all as far as I can tell, which is why I'm still there. |

Adventures of an Open Proxy Server - LURHQ (Jan 07 2004 19:09 GMT) - Via Joat.... Adventures of an Open Proxy Server Abstract This paper discusses the abuse of misconfigured HTTP proxy servers, taking a detailed look at the types of traffic that flow through this underground network. Also discussed is the use of a "honeyproxy", a server designed to look like a misconfigured HTTP proxy. Using such a tool we can spy on the Internet underground without the need for a full-blown honeypot. |
