- Last night Green, Duck, Skegamog, Higgins and Long Lake have ice completely across and many are hoping to be fishing Saturday. The smelt fisherman will be happy that they can finally get out and fish the little guys on Higgins and Green lake but also these two lakes produces 20lb plus pike on first ice by tipup or spearing. Bear Lake between Kalakska and Grayling has 3-5" of ice and the browns are biting on blue minnows. Lake Margerthe is producing perch and pike in good... |

- The deeper lakes have froze over and the are at the mercy of mother nature. If we get to much snow on the thin ice it will make the lake hard to fish as the snow will insulate it and it will not freeze good. We are not getting much snow tonight so I think that many lakes will be ready to fish in a week I will know more tomorrow. The fishing is still slow but I expect it to pick up this weekend with the warmer temps. Good Fishing Curly |
