New iPod - No Thanks! (Jan 08 2004 23:33 GMT) - The rumors were proved true this week when Apple unveiled the new smaller iPod Minis. While these are nicely designed and come with 4GB drives, they are also unfortunately only $50 less than the 15GB version of their big brother iPod. I can understand that component costs for the shell the electronics and the 4GB drive all add up to justify the cost for the most part, but market wise it just doesn’t make much sense to price these new iPods at $250. Especially when the original iPod in the 15GB variety is now priced at $299 — |

Apparently the 4 hour, 50 ... (Jan 08 2004 23:33 GMT) - Apparently the 4 hour, 50 minute running time of the RotK: EE DVD was misheard by an interviewer, and it's actually 4 hours, 15 minutes. Sounds like there's other information that has Jackson saying the running time will be at least 4:15. |

My poor baby (Jan 08 2004 23:32 GMT) - Well that's what my car looks like after being rear-ended by a 19 year old girl driving a SUV. I was waiting to make a right turn and she was waiting behind me. I was inching up to go... |

Some polling goodness (Jan 08 2004 23:32 GMT) - Survey USA has new polls! In Iowa, we have Dean on top with 29%, Gephardt with 22%, Kerry at 21% and Edwards at 17% with less than 3% undecided. If I recall correctly, SurveyUSA had Dean at 42 in December. However, that was not only during the height |

Blogs and pogo sticks (Jan 08 2004 23:31 GMT) - The 2002-vintage Caslon Analytics profile on weblogs is still being updated. Thorough, crunchy, sarcastic in places - I like it. Here's a prediction I quoted from that report back then. It (still?) hasn't come true but the author(s) left it in: |

AMD, Intel put antivirus tech into chips (Jan 08 2004 23:30 GMT) - The companies plan to soon release technology that will allow processors to stop many computer attacks before they occur. [CNET News.com] '-- Execution Protection by AMD, technology contained in AMD's Athlon 64 chips, prevents a buffer overflow, a common method used to attack computers. A buffer overflow essentially overwhelms a computer's defense systems and then inserts a malicious program in memory that the processor subsequently executes --' ...John |

130lb bench breakthrough!!! (Jan 08 2004 23:29 GMT) - I went to the gym this afternoon and busted through a plateau by benching two 65lb dumbbells (130lbs total). Previously I had trouble benching two 60lbs weights (120lbs). If I had a spotter I would have attempted two 70lb dumbbells.... |

Bondage Bears (Jan 08 2004 23:29 GMT) - Don't know who or what Alpin is, but I love that they use studded, leather clad, masked, whip-wielding, bondage loving teddy bears as an advertising campaign. I wonder if there are plans to merchandise the bears with the product. The NRMA had costumed teddy bears available, but they run more along the lines of aviatrix — Royal Flying Doctor fundraiser — than dominatrix. |
