Release - CacheMate 3.3 (Jan 09 2004 00:46 GMT) - This release adds color support and status/type columns to the list view, the latter of which is also in the bookmark and nearest cache lists. Several other additions and bug fixes were also made (see the change log for details). The UTM coordinate display is now in the form of a plugin, so some memory can be conserved if you don't need that feature. This release also includes CMConvert 1.71, which adds a warning message if any cache descriptions were truncated, as well as full support for sorting the list view. |

God Tells Brother Pat Robertson That George W. Bush Will Win 2004 Election in a Landslide (Jan 09 2004 00:45 GMT) - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday he believes God has told him President Bush will be re-elected in a "blowout" in November. "I think George Bush is going to win in a walk," Robertson said on his "700 Club" program on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded. "I really believe I'm hearing from the Lord it's going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It's shaping up that way." Robertson told viewers he spent several days in prayer at the end of 2003. |

an iTunes a day... (Jan 09 2004 00:45 GMT) - Only recently I started recommending iTunes to everyone who wouldn't run away quickly enough. Nice thing about it: everybody actually likes the program. – And I hope I'll see other libraries in my iTunes more regularly now. |

EchoStar, Viacom to keep talking (Jan 09 2004 00:45 GMT) - Business News: One week ceasefire negotiated within a day of filing EchoStar's lawsuit against Viacom is temporarily on hold, as the two parties agreed Thursday to a one-week extension that will keep CBS local broadcast signals on the Dish Network in key markets pending a resolution of their increasingly contentious affiliation negotiations. |

More spam (Jan 09 2004 00:43 GMT) - So amidst the depth of yet another 411 scams and cheap mortgages and the like, I've gotten a few that say "Bi-Curios couple wants you". Assuming that they're not folks into paired bric-a-brac, I've just gotta point out that none of those so inclined that I know would mis-spell their subject lines. |

Textile 2 beta - PHP class version (Jan 09 2004 00:42 GMT) - I've been toying around with Dean Allen's mui funky Textile for a while by now, and finally, as I'm approaching a certain state of development in G-Blog.net v2, I think I have a use for it. It'll most likely be the formatting gizmo of choice for the next version of this very site. Anyways, while the original version 2.0 beta is great, it's somewhat annoying to have as part of an object-oriented framework, since this version is basically just a number of functions. |

Speaker of the Dead (Jan 09 2004 00:42 GMT) - After reading Ender's Game a couple of months ago, I've almost immediately put all Ender books I could find on my Amazon wishlist. This X-Mas, I got the four next books in the series. Tonight, I've finished Speaker of the Dead. What an exceptional book. Wow. |

Another less than stellar day in Iraq. (Jan 09 2004 00:42 GMT) - Blackhawk down near Fallujah kills 9 US soldiers, with another soldier killed and 33 injured in a very effective mortar attack in Balad, and a military cargo jet hit and forced to make an emergency landing in Baghdad. Pretty screwed for a single day.... and part of the reason could be that the army has begun a huge rotation of forces into and out of Iraq -- the largest, fastest movement of American troops in decades. Unfortunately, this also leads to attacks of opportunity, with many more planes, helicopters, and assembled (i.e. |

Dialog is a resource (Jan 09 2004 00:40 GMT) - Denham Grey: Shared tacit knowledge formed in a community through conversation and dialog is a very valuable corporate resource, well-protected from competitors, impossible to copy and requires special conditions to replicate elsewhere. Very well said. I'd never thought about dialog (dialogue?) in this way, but it makes plenty of sense. |

Strategy Vs. Tactics (Jan 09 2004 00:40 GMT) - This was going to be a shout-out to the Wes Clark trolls on this blog (hi gang) but the Gephardt campaign, and the reactions to Dean's "defensiveness" here, make this post more urgent. It is time to talk about the difference between strategy and tactic |
