OLDEUBOI | OLD BOY by Park Chan-wook (Jan 09 2004 05:57 GMT) - Wild, intensely cinematic ride into two men's burning desire to get even, OLD BOY falls slightly short of Korean helmer Park Chan-wook's previous feature, the gripping psychodrama SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE (2002). Major festival positioning looks in the cards, but business outside Asia looks to be rather specialized for this meaty meal. [Variety.com]• |

Cool Guestmap Widget (Jan 09 2004 05:55 GMT) - Up on the top left is a web gadget I found--it allows visitors to your site let you know where they hail from. :) It seems to work pretty well, though one small bug--it won't let you put your "pushpin" on the map if you don't make a comment. If there are other pushpins close to your location, just zoom in on the map and you should be able to find a space for your own pin. I'd appreciate if any visitors to this site would throw a pin on there! |

The Effects of Walmart on Corporate Outsourcing (Jan 09 2004 05:54 GMT) - Slashdot ran yet another article on outsourcing today, this one about how Tech Firms Defend Moving Jobs Overseas. It had the usual comments one's come to expect from such stories. It's been quite interesting watching the attitudes of the folks on Slashdot over the past few years. I started reading the site around the time of the RedHat IPO |

eBay Motors experiences? (Jan 09 2004 05:54 GMT) - I spent about 20 minutes poking around on eBay motors today, mostly because I'm trying to understand the market for vehicles capable of towing a glider trailer--think used pickup truck or a 6-8 year old SUV (Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4Runner, etc). I must say, I'm underwhelmed. The pickings are so much better over in the autos section of craigslist. Anyone out there ever bought a car via eBay Motors? I'm curious to hear about it. |

IL CARTAIO | THE CARD PLAYER by Dario Argento (Jan 09 2004 05:53 GMT) - Italo horror master Argento deals a surprisingly tame hand in IL CARTAIO | THE CARD PLAYER," in which a serial killer forces the police to play video poker for his victims' lives. Without a drop of blood and most of the violence off-camera, pic is short on the Grand Guignol thrills for which the director is famous. Could penetrate more mainstream markets like TV.
