- Microsoft,BEA Systems and Tibco Software has published a specification called Web Services Eventing designed to work with SOAP and WS-Reliable Messaging (designed to guarantee that data sent between computers via messages will arrive at the intended destination). Imagine a device which could wake on event with this new technology like a thermostat: when you plug in your wi-fi thermostat and configure it on your wireless lan, you set your location and it subscribes to the following events - water failure, outside temperature and your schedule from Microsoft Outlook. You still set the desired temperature in the house but now, the device detects new appointments when you leave the house and turns off the heating until you are set to return. A critical temperature which could cause the device to fail is an event which is triggered by the WS-Eventing system and the heater kicks in to maintain the heating system at a temperature which won't freeze the pipes. |
