The Perils of working from home [Holly Noseda] (Jan 09 2004 14:58 GMT) - I've found working from home, for the most part, a really good way of combining my business and home life, if anything I put in far more hours to Yet More Solutions because it's easy to just sit down at any time of the night or weekend and put in some time, in a way that it isn't viable when you work from an office belonging to an employer. Of course this could be seen as a downside - you never fully switch off, but as we're still within our start-up phase and the biggest resource we have to put into our business is our time it needs to be as easy as possible to do that. When we're in a position to move into suitable premises will also be the time to review the long hours (I hope!). One of the other perils of working from home is a relatively new one - theft. |

Devil's Ditch (Miscellaneous by festyboy) (Jan 09 2004 14:58 GMT) - This forms part of the boundary between Hampshire and Wiltshire. The Devil's Ditch is part of network of massive ditches, which radiate from Quarley Hill. These ditches date to the late Bronze Age and appear to have been built for farming purposes, either as boundaries or for the movement of cattle, enabling the animals to be brought across areas of land without causing damage to crops. Devil's Ditch runs from Parkhouse and turns north to the Long Barrows at Milston Down. The ditch continues northwestwards ... |

Gizmodo reports on a bunch ... (Jan 09 2004 14:54 GMT) - Gizmodo reports on a bunch of interesting TiVo news including TivoToGo. I don't mind the dongle, but I do hope that OS X support if forthcoming. If they don't think dorks with Macs aren't a core part of their customer base, they should redo their marketing data. Also, the fact that the first hi-def TiVo will be for DirecTV would be enough to cause me to ditch Time Warner Cable -- except that DSL isn't available in my apartment complex. Ah, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune! |
