Return of The Prodigal (Jan 10 2004 23:00 GMT) - Very long time no hear, but my excuse, as usual, is that things have been hectic the past twelve months to say the least.I'd informed Copydesk's readership I was embarking on a new career path, working in the media, specifically telly and films, and was lucky to get loads of work in loads of productions, as a background and walk on 'artist', but also, due to the patience of some great directors, learned a lot about the technical side, which has sparked off my return to college full time to qualify in TV and Film Ops.I'm also gainfully employed part time by Associated Media, working on The Scottish Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday, which'll help make the payments on the Jag.Over the next few weeks, I'll be offering a wee bit of insight into the Scottish film industry, going over productions I've been involved in, future projects and a broad overview of the state of The Art, good or bad, as it stands, and how it affects the Scottish movie punter. |

Still More from the Pope-Emperor (Jan 10 2004 23:00 GMT) - Bruce Sterling, interviewed by Mike Godwin for Reason magazine, sums up why the internet is so scary:We're empowering people we're afraid of, and we cannot handle the consequences of the social change, some of which are always dark. There is no silver lining without its cloud. It's a Woodstock-Altamont transformation. It's like, hey, we're going to play free music for everybody, including these PCP-demented Hell's Angels with pool cues. |

The Omniscience of God and the Free-Will of Man (Jan 10 2004 23:00 GMT) - I was issued a bit of a challenge: If you want to have an impact on critical thinkers, you need to do more than talk flowery crap about faith and spirits. Write an article using Christian pseudo-science... spam the edit queue.... Heck, it might even get voted up. |
