Eisner's Legacy (Jan 11 2004 07:59 GMT) - When the story of the rise and fall (hopefully sooner rather than later) of Michael Eisner is written, this will be his epitaph. The Walt Disney Co. is expected to close a feature-animation studio in Orlando, Florida, on Monday, jeopardizing... |

Your candidate, governor dean, has made several references to -- about president bush having alleged advance knowledge of the 9/11 attacks from the saudis. Should someone who wants to be president be trading on rumors? |

Review: Last Samurai (Jan 11 2004 07:54 GMT) - If you have no sense of honor, no sense of loyalty, no sense of justice, than this movie is not right for you. This movie is a great movie, it shows a time when honor and pride were the rule, not the exception. It was a time when loyalty was held higher than money, by some at least. The story is said that the beginning to be fictional, but I have little doubt that similar such tales occurred dozens of times as civilization was brought to Japan and the old ways were forced aside for new, far more profitable ways. Of course this could also be applied to other nations whose most humble of people had progress forced on them, but this tale is of the Samurai and their last fight against technology(yes, a chain gun was technology) and you see the beginnings of the cities as they are now. |

Why can't Homeland Security tell ... (Jan 11 2004 07:50 GMT) - Why can't Homeland Security tell the difference between Al Quaeda and my six-year-old daughter?. My six-year-old daughter is on the CAPPS (Computer Assisted Passenger Pre-Screening) list as a security risk. Here's what happened. We went to visit my parents in Colorado for the holidays. When we got to the Burbank Airport, the skycap asked for our IDs. |

I Forgot That I Haven't Forgotten (Jan 11 2004 07:50 GMT) - I enjoyed the first half of HBO's Angels in America enough to actually use today's 2 degree temperatures as a good excuse to (in part) watch the last three hours. As an overall review, and despite the blatant liberal bias, I have to admit this was an excellent mini-series, completely worth watching. It really does grab even the most cynical of viewers (me), and is extremely well conceived and executed (I'm finally an Al Pacino fan). That's really high praise from me, I assure you. So you're now left wondering what this post is doing in the "That Day" category instead of the "Mass Media Consumption" category. |
