Blah. (Jan 13 2004 02:59 GMT) - Woke up late. Went to pick up LF from school. Got mail. Happily, mail had two research checks and a Preferred Reader coupon. Unhappily, mail had a bill that was bigger than I thought it would be. |

WordPress (Jan 13 2004 02:59 GMT) - If you want to get your personal publishing on, but for some reason Movable Type has left a bad taste in your mouth or just doesn’t live up to what you need, check out the WordPress project. The same standards-based development values are there, as is support for popular open-source and readily-available backend resources. I’m particularly interested that the WordPress team calls their product a “ |

From Barbie to Mortal Kombat: Further Reflections, By Henry Jenkins This is an interesting paper by Henry Jenkins that discusses how games appeal to girls, comparing the "Games for Girls" approach of Brenda Laural at Purple Moon, with the "System Simulation" approach of Will Wright at Maxis. Before I went to Maxis to work on The Sims with Will Wright, I worked at Interval Research. |

Seeing Blue At CES (Jan 13 2004 02:56 GMT) - I spent today wandering around the convention floor at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While Comdex has suffered a painful decline in relevance and attendance (I frankly don't know which came first), CES remains a vibrant show. Vendors ranging from Sony to Pentax to Monster Cable share the convention floor with less obvious demonstrators like the United States Post Office. While it is not quite the spectacle of E3, some rooms certainly give it a sonic run for its money. As we arrived at CES this morning, there were a crew of men in women dressed in tuxedos and black dresses. |

But, one thing I cannot find is the coffee table book about coffee tables. Does this book exist, and if so, where can I find it? thank you.... |
