Mars Invasion (Jan 15 2004 23:58 GMT) - You know what we should do? Send up a Mars mission and then once they're up in space, call them and say "You guys can't reenter the atmosphere until you develop a cure for AIDS. Get crackin'." Great idea, David Rees, but this challenge may fall into James Cameron's hands. I have to admit that Bush's space fantasy has me a bit tingly. |

That's bullshit! (Jan 15 2004 23:55 GMT) - Though there were rumors of this on DailyKos last night, Atrios has the wire story: Viacom's CBS today rejected a request from liberal group MoveOn to air a 30- second anti-President Bush ad during the Super Bowl, saying the spot violated the network's policy against running issue advocacy advertising. What a load of crap! [The title of this post comes from my instinctive reaction upon reading the above paragraph.] What about all those idiotic anti-drug ads the government wastes our money on every year? |

The Bottom Up Economy (Jan 15 2004 23:54 GMT) - When I was an undergraduate, I spent a lot of time studying negotiations and bargaining situations - often in situations where there was little to no trust between the parties. The end results of such negotiations always turned out to be much better when they opened up and weren't done in a "us vs. them" or top down manner. However, it was very difficult to get over the hurdle of the "we're telling you how it is!" thought process to the "let's lay everything out on the table" process. |
