Stanford Withdraws Its ARL Membership (Jan 31 2004 10:59 GMT) - Daniel writes "American Libraries Online reports:"Stanford University Library became the first major academic institution to rescind its membership in the Association of Research Libraries, an organization it helped found in 1932. In a statement released January 29, the university stated that University Librarian Michael A. mitdemfingerdroh (Jan 31 2004 10:57 GMT) - Irgendwie ist es ja schon saublöd, wenn man zwar im Internet nachschaut, wann ein Zug abfährt, aber dann direkt am Bahnhof nach dem Gleis schauen möchte und dieser Zug dann angeblich nicht existiert. Noch viel blöder ist allerdings, wenn just in diesem Moment ein Zug mit genau der gewünschten Zielrichtung einfährt, man flugs in diesen einsteigt und dieser dann eine völlig andere (nicht erwünschte) Route nimmt, die einem eine Verspätung von 60 Minuten, 3 maliges Umsteigen und einen erneuten Ticket-Kauf einbringt. Zum Glück hatte ich ausnahmsweise (für mich ungewöhnlich) viel Luft in meiner Zeit-Planung... |
