Town marks day Napoleon didn't invade (Jan 31 2004 23:52 GMT) - From The Scotsman: Town marks the day Napoleon did not invade. THE 200th anniversary of one of the most bizarre events in Scottish military history - in which thousands of troops were mobilised to fight a non-existent invasion by Napoleon near Berwick-upon-Tweed - will be marked in a special ceremony tomorrow. Volunteers aged between 16 and 60, and from settlements scattered across 2,000sqm of Scottish countryside, set off to repel Napoleon Bonaparte’s invading forces. From the valleys of Liddesdale and Teviotdale, and across the hills of Berwickshire and Selkirkshire, any man fit enough to fight took part in a forced... |

Game Notes - Los Angeles Clippers (Jan 31 2004 23:51 GMT) - Tracy McGrady did not play in tonight's game due to a death in the family. With the current state of this team, there is little hope for the team to win (outscore) against another team. At times the Magic played as a group - showing a little sign of defense. I am glad to see some balanced scoring - and that our team distributed the ball decently. I am upset, however, that Keith Bogans grabbed 8 rebounds. |

hematite! (Jan 31 2004 23:49 GMT) - Today I had planned on taking the time I usually put into (sort of) transcribing the MER mission press briefings and writing something up on "the hematite" that's the big news in Meridiani Planum. It's being reported by all the mainstream media outlets without any real context and I'd hoped to offer some of that. I got several paragraphs in... |

Puppies first photos (Jan 31 2004 23:48 GMT) - The initial plan was to see our puppy this weekend. But I'm sick and everyone assures me that seeing a not-quite-two-week-old puppy is like watching paint dry. However, the owner of the dog and litter did send us a photo of the newest member of the Fish brood. I give you the Puppy Fish... That pup has a face only a mother could love, eh? |
