Test Of Access to Florida's Public Records Reveals Difficulties in Getting Information (Feb 09 2004 15:59 GMT) - A group of 30 Florida Newspapers conducted a "statewide public records audit" to determine how easy it would be to access public records. 43% of the audited agencies refused to turn over public records or made unlawful demands, such as insisting on the name of the person making the request. Florida is one of the few states where access to public information is written into the state constitution. Florida's public records law says that the public can inspect any document produced by government, unless there is a specific statutory exemption. News Sources: |

The project is still in its infancy and things are just coming up somehow. |
