Practical Enterprise Convergence Getting There from Here (Feb 13 2004 04:59 GMT) - RFG believes the transition to IP telephony and enterprise convergence is inevitable due to the decreased capital and operational expenses, and positive business impacts of packet-switched telephony. However, the migration path from today's technology to tomorrow's packet-switched converged systems will be a unique process for each corporation based on current product platforms and a host of organizational and economic variables. IT executives should begin developing plans now for a logical migration path to move their enterprises forward to take advantage of the inherent economies and simplicity of IP telephony. |

Skinning .TEXT (Feb 13 2004 04:57 GMT) - Installing .TEXT was completely painless thanks to great documentation at the .TEXT wiki. I'm finding the skinning process to be just as simple-- now my big problem is pinpointing exactly when enough is enough with the custom control building. I'm the type of guy who can spend three hours squinting less than an inch away from the moniter with an image magified to the point where only few dozen pixel's are showing. |

tgit (Feb 13 2004 04:57 GMT) - Today really sucked. In what frustratingly looks like a pattern of suckiness--at least workwise--today ranked right up there near the top. If the year were a college of suck, today would be graduating summa cum laude. I had a phone conversation with one of those stereotypical foreign service junior officers scrambling for tenure, trying to convince me that his project--for which we'd already gone well above the call of duty--was so important that I needed to pull my staff off of everything else in order to continue to work on it, not-so-subtly suggesting (in fact, practically threatening) that if I thought I had work of higher priority, he'd contact the Undersecretary for his bureau and have her call the director of mine in order to set my priorities straight. Yawn. |

T-Zones (Feb 13 2004 04:57 GMT) - When I got my new phone, I signed up for T-Mobile's unlimited data plan, thinking that would be a good idea for accessing the internet and sending email from my cellphone. Marc liked the abilities of my new toy, and since his phone offers similar features, he had t-zones enabled. Soon we discovered that he could do exactly the same as I could with my phone. In fact, the T-Mobile website says T-zones is also unlimited and only costs 5 bucks, while I was paying the equivalent of a DSL subscription.. not good : |
