Challenges in creating an international, company-wide 'virtual library' (Feb 13 2004 13:59 GMT) - GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the world's largest pharmaceutical company embarked on an ambitious virtual library project a few years ago. Last year I had the opportunity to speak to two GSK librarians about this project, and to me they are a best practice for other company libraries. Public Shows Support for Bigger, Better Bottle Bill, Reclaiming Deposits (Feb 13 2004 13:57 GMT) - A new public opinion poll shows overwhelming support to expand the bottle bill to included noncarbonated beverages such as juice and water. Little interest however among legislative leaders. An even higher percentage - 86% - believes the state should receive the unreclaimed deposits from the beverage industry - aover $150 million a year in NY. |

Ab kommenden Montag werde die mobile Datenkarte in allen Shops zum Verkauf angeboten, kündigte der Vorsitzende der Geschäftsführung, Jürgen von Kuczkowski, gestern in Düsseldorf an. Zum Preis von zwei Euro pro Stunde könnten die Kunden dann über die UMTS-Datenkarte von unterwegs mit ihrem Notebook im Internet surfen. (The Independent, UK) By Robin Gedye China has hunted down and arrested a North Korean defector who revealed the first documentary evidence of Pyongyang's chemical and biological experiments on political prisoners, said his supporters yesterday. Kang Byong-sop, 59, was seized on the Chinese-Laotian border with his wife and youngest son, aged 25, last month after escaping from North Korea with proof that the Stalinist regime is killing political prisoners by experimenting on them with biological and chemical weapons.
