Tamales and Southwestern Caesar (Feb 23 2004 23:59 GMT) - Our vigil for the new baby meets the unexpected - sickness. We have been quite unable to get out to the market for some time now. Illness only compounds the problem. This leaves both pantry and freezer rather empty. Still, we have a couple Trader Joe's tamales in the freezer and a few other things lying about the kitchen to help us make do. |

eggs over easy (Feb 23 2004 23:57 GMT) - Saturday morning we had a hankerin' for eggs. We went to Humptys for the first time. Nice food, considering it's just a greasy fry up. Afterwards we went shopping, we spent some time wandering through department stores and generally checking things out before ending up at a supermarket. This particular outpost of globalized grocery was the first one that Khel and I visited when she came to Edmonton to live, in Feb 2001. |

playing catch-up (Feb 23 2004 23:57 GMT) - I really do seem to be playing catch-up recently, since starting the new job. I've been very busy at work, trying to settle in and keep on top of the work load. It's all good fun, though. I'm having trouble with Visio though. I've installed it three times now, and after a while it just b0rks totally. |

Ouch (Feb 23 2004 23:56 GMT) - I have been out of circulation for most of today with a terrible toothache. Will see the dentist tomorrow. Blogging will resume as soon as the pain has reached a level that will allow me to think again. At the moment I feel like Spock mind-melding with the Horta (explanation for non-Trekkies is here). Paige Calls NEA a "Terrorist Organization" (Feb 23 2004 23:55 GMT) - Bush administration Education Secretary Rod Paige call the National Education Association a "terrorist organization" today in front of a gathering of the nation's governors. The statement, which Page has already apologized for, is troublesome to me for three reasons. The first is that the Education Secretary is supposed to be about fostering education, and insulting the main teacher's union is not a good way to... |

I want a new kind ... (Feb 23 2004 23:55 GMT) - I want a new kind of search engine - that puts us in control. I've done a few dozen more Yahoo vs. Google comparisons. I'm convinced that Yahoo squandered a good chance to overtake Google. Here's my view on how to overtake Google: |
