Reducing Friction in Knowledge Work (Feb 27 2004 01:57 GMT) - Jim McGee writes: Unlike physical processes or information factory processes, knowledge work processes aren't readily susceptible to conventional reengineering/industrial engineering approaches. You can't impose industrial structure and control on these processes without destroying the fluidity and adaptability that characterizes them as knowledge work processes. That raises the question of what can you do to make those processes more effective and possibly more efficient. I have a series of concepts I use as heuristics to make a knowledge work process better. |

Reactions, Impressions, Urinations (Feb 27 2004 01:57 GMT) - Is it a sin to get up and go to the bathroom during The Passion of the Christ? Not that many people did, even in a packed theater. I managed to hold it.The movie is powerful. I made the mistake of reading about 12 reviews and articles about it before I saw it. |

SSL Cert Expired, Should we post site announcement? (Feb 27 2004 01:57 GMT) - Putting it on the site then yoinking it, never to be seen/mentioned again is probably the best idea. The main thing there is not to go out of your way to inform people. If they aren't starin' at ya, don't say something silly to get them lookin' your way when your pants are down, so to speak. ;) |

Rebuilding (Feb 27 2004 01:57 GMT) - Last fall when California was plagued with wildfires, a controller & his family lost their home. The FAA family pulled together, and the controllers at Toledo took up a collection and sent a gift card for Home Depot to them. Last week we received a thank you note from the family. The note had this picture enclosed. |
