A Metaphor Gone Metastatic

Work Summary (Feb 29 2004 04:16 GMT) - Got there on time/early. Worked. Must avoid adding too much of the caffiene to the morning beverage in the future, as the ladies' room and I were having too much to say to each other. Talked briefly to The Anti-Tech Redneck From Hell, a man two years younger than I am. Got 15 minutes break and then we were all dispatched in a generally homeward direction. |

Good thread on Offshoring (Feb 29 2004 04:14 GMT) - The consensus seems to be that offshoring your core competency can NEVER be a good thing. If someone else controls your competitive edge, what stops them from selling it to someone/everyone else? |

Symbiosis (Feb 29 2004 04:07 GMT) - Classical eudaimonism and individualist anarchism. -- Roderick Long argues that classical eudaimonism provides a key to reconciling the egoistic and natural-rights justifications for a voluntary society, since eudaimonism holds that justice is part of human flourishing. Long adduces Socrates as the originator, and Plato, Aristotle, and the Stoics as early developers, of the eudaimonist tradition; he also notes that eudaimonist views on the content of justice are quite foreign to the theories of justice inherent in individualist anarchism. It's interesting to me that he left Epicurus off the list of eudaimonist thinkers, because certain Epicurean positions seem to present an approach to justice that is much closer to individualist anarchism. |

A REAL CLEAR CONSERVATIVE PERSPECTIVE ON GAY MARRIAGE (Feb 29 2004 04:06 GMT) - Aside from the hatespeech populating this site of late for the right and the Bush Administration, I think that the left is really the ones using Gay Marriage as a wedge issue, frankly. I came across this article at REAL CLEAR POLITICS and it pretty much defines the position on the right ... at least as far as I can see. |
