BigFrog Gets Results (Feb 29 2004 06:51 GMT) - Back in January 2003, BigFrog reported the CD price fixing settlement. Were you proactive? Did you fill out the settlement form? If so, you should be getting this in the mail like I did. THIRTEEN DOLLARS AND 86/100 is not much these days, but it's enough for a value priced CD. |

Odd Man In (Feb 29 2004 06:50 GMT) - By Matt Taibbi Must Read!I will never forgive America for what Dennis Kucinich went through this year. Because he has had the audacity to call for an end to all wars, to announce plans for the creation of a Department of Peace, to question the very culture of viciousness and intolerance and crass commercialism that rules our public discourse, he has been labeled a lunatic by nearly every "responsible" press organ in this country and cruelly mocked to a degree that no civil society should allow an honorable man to endure. |

Pluck RSS Reader and Power Search (Feb 29 2004 06:46 GMT) - A Google AdSense ad on my Tiki Wiki Hut home page for the free Pluck RSS Reader caught my eye. Looks like a pretty cool tool as it's designed to work from within Internet Explorer. Sounds somewhat like AmphetaDesk, but with an Outlook-style interface. Pluck, however, only runs under Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Here's the blurb about How Pluck Works: |

Wonders of Happiness (Feb 29 2004 06:46 GMT) - I have been really happy lately. There are times when people depress me but that's part of daily life and I get through it fairly easily. I always knew my lungs were involved so seriously and that it wasn't just a heart problem. |

Will We Ever See ''Caller ID for Email?'' (Feb 29 2004 06:45 GMT) - In last week's RSA Conference keynote address, Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates indicated it's time to get tough on SPAM. Initially an annoyance, recent years have seen unsolicited email become a legitimate security threat. With the volume of SPAM increasing, higher percentages of server time are devoted to processing messages that no one wants to see. In a sense, this is a Denial of Service attack. Users of Microsoft Windows based computers have seen a number of worms replicate through SPAM-like means over the past year. |

Goodness (Feb 29 2004 06:44 GMT) - This outer-space Texas music channel, #950 on the Dish Network, just won my everlasting love -- they're playing the damn Hangdogs. I wonder how many of my NYC web buddies have paid money to go see the Hangdogs. I bet not many, since the 'Dogs're country and, let's face it...that Manhattan is more dark turtlenecks with berets than they are furry chaps with Stetsons. |

Poker Report (Sorry, Otis) (Feb 29 2004 06:44 GMT) - Thanks to some urging from Hank the Double Cow Dog, I decided to play some these here $11 Sit-N-Gos on the Empire today. Four tournies: one fourth, one third, one second, and one first (update: and a late 7th, sadly). The one where I finished out of the money I had my ace-high flush beaten by a straight flush. |
