Real Obnoxious (Feb 29 2004 21:47 GMT) - The one application that I try to stay away from more than any other is Real Player. Or Real One, or whatever the hell they call it this week. If Real Player, Real One, whatever, just did what it's supposed to do; which is to play video streams, then that'd be great... |

Pluck RSS Reader and Power Search (Feb 29 2004 21:46 GMT) - A Google AdSense ad on my Tiki Wiki Hut home page for the free Pluck RSS Reader caught my eye. Looks like a pretty cool tool as it's designed to work from within Internet Explorer. Sounds somewhat like AmphetaDesk, but with an Outlook-style interface. Pluck, however, only runs under Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Here's the blurb about How Pluck Works: |

can somone please edit this short reflection (Feb 29 2004 21:46 GMT) - Hi, I am not quite sure about the underlined sentences, could anyone do me a favor? The news media, according to the liberal pluralists, must carry out the crucial work of contributing to the system of checks and balances popularly held to be representative of domocratic structures and processes. More specifically, by fostering a public engagement with the issue of the day, [u:77fb3bf62f]they are regarded as helping to underwrite a consensual process of surveillance whereby the activities of the state and corporate sectors are made more reponsive to the dictates of public opinion. The Cutting Room Floor (Feb 29 2004 21:46 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - Doc reminds me that CBS's Sunday Morning show was going to run a piece today about the Net and politics, but has postponed it. Doc says he was told he'd be in the segment. I was also interview but haven't been told I'm in it, so I assume I'm on the virtual cutting room floor. Given the number of people I've interviewed a great length and never put into columns, I can't complain. |
