I know I count. |

Not enough (Mar 04 2004 02:57 GMT) - Eisner is to Mitchell what Arafat is to Abu Mazen Ala. He's got the angle, but as Hanover Fist said: Hangin's too good for 'im. Burnin's too good for 'im. He should be torn into little bisty pieces and buried... |

Times Square, New York (Mar 04 2004 02:57 GMT) - Our offices are in the Ernst & young building on the right. Brand new building but exactly the same boring grey cubicles as in the old one (the Grace building, two blocks away.) |

Wraiths and race (Mar 04 2004 02:56 GMT) - Howard Shores score for the Peter Jackson Rings trilogy evokes Wagner. He knows the science of harmonic dread... more. But isnt it all quite racist? |

Harmonic Dread (Mar 04 2004 02:56 GMT) - Early in The Fellowship of the Ring, the first film in Peter Jackson's monumental “Lord of the Rings trilogy, the wizard Gandalf finds himself alone in a room with the trinket that could end the world. It lies gleaming on the floor, and Gandalf regards it with an attitude of fascinated fear. The audience feels a chill that neither Jackson's vertiginous camera angles nor Ian McKellen's arching eyebrows can fully explain. The Ring of Power extends its grip through the medium of music, which is the work of the gifted film composer Howard Shore |

By showing you the difference between pan-and-scan and widescreen, we want you to make your own informed decision as to what is best for you. Helpline Comment (25989) (Mar 04 2004 02:55 GMT) - SnoBunny, You said: I'm running Sygate's personal firewall Have you tried back-tracing those hits? Yeah, Sygate...I think I said Symantic before... When I trace them they also point to MS, but that could be spoofed too, couldn't it? |

Interesting day in Microsoft land (Mar 04 2004 02:55 GMT) - I just got back from two interesting experiences. The first was Microsoft's TechFest. This is an annual event, for employees only, where researchers and other groups bring out their coolest and most interesting technology. I saw tons of stuff that would get me fired for talking about it here. So I'll let other people leak about what they saw (some press were getting official tours, but they were being shown specific booths, and I'm not sure what they were, so I'll stay away from commenting). |

Skinner begone! (Mar 04 2004 02:54 GMT) - Ikram compares my religious experience with that of woman who became a traditional Muslim and moved to Pakistan from America. To my mind Ikram's Skinnerian thesis is undercut by this excerpt from Matt Ridley's Nature via Nurture (page 79): Take... |

Anti-Abortion people (Mar 04 2004 02:54 GMT) - They were on Sproul today, along with their lovely abortion pictures. Three boards with Pro-choice and pictures of dead babies, and one board with Pro-Life and a picture of a living cute little baby. Hmm... they were missing at least three more Pro-Life boards though. They need one for the deformed, retarded children. |
