Hi~ anyone can help me out with this essay? (Mar 04 2004 23:45 GMT) - [quote:c0bf3f549c="tdol"]Sick is an adjective and sicken a verb, so they aren't interchangeable. I think your sentence is fine. However, maybe you could use a different verb, like 'revolted' or 'disgusted' or 'nauseated'- sicken normally refers to illness rather than feeling like vomiting. ; |

English for advertisement (Mar 04 2004 23:45 GMT) - [quote:efe8b044f9="lucyarliwu" Ron and thanks Tdol for your help! Sorry, Ron! Maybe I should use" understand' to vice " follow up" in the preceding sentence, but I have thought the phrase of "follow up" has the meaning of " to understand, to catch" before, so I did it this time.[/quote: |

adjective (Mar 04 2004 23:45 GMT) - There can be surges in moods and things, but I wouldn't use it for 'skills'. You could make a leap forwards, though. ;-) |

Edit my writing (Mar 04 2004 23:45 GMT) - [quote:ac6e115cf4="Red5"]I would say that if the quote is from a written source then the punctuation should be within the quote as it was in the original. Otherwise, I agree with TDOL. ;-)[/quote: |

Tubes of the world! (Mar 04 2004 23:45 GMT) - Check it out: This site shows the subway systems of the world, presented on the same scale -- so you can see how each city compares to each other directly. That's Paris above. Moscow is this totally immense sprawl, and Barcelona looks like a ton of fun; it's really comprehensive but teensy, so you get the sense that there's a subway stop every 30 feet or so. |
