Printing basics (Mar 06 2004 23:59 GMT) - Thanks for the post bill, this is the first print based blog i've seen. It covers some important points such as the quality of the print work this is true, if in doubt visit the printers and look at their print samples (all good ones have huge portfolio samples) |

Up and down, up and down (Mar 06 2004 23:59 GMT) - I took Mr. Fish out for a burger at our local brew pub restaurant this evening. It was the beginning of a delightful evening. Until, that is, the hostess sat family next to us with an annoying four year old and a squalling infant. You want to ruin my night pretty quick? |

Credibility the key to advocacy? (Mar 06 2004 23:59 GMT) - Word of mouth advertising or advocacy marketing, I think depends upon the credibility of the advocate. That's why a third party journalist praising your company's products and services, will count for more than one hundred sales pitches. I have written... |

Were they covered against acts of God? (Mar 06 2004 23:58 GMT) - United States: The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has sued its insurer because it has refused to cover them for the massive payments made to victims of clergy abuse. Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Co. claims that the church's $85 million settlement with 522 victims of clergy abuse was a voluntary payment and that the company was not obligated to contribute, The Boston Globe reported in Saturday's editions. The church has had to close several churches and sell historic buildings to cover the cost of compensating its victims. |

In Flight Entertainment... (Mar 06 2004 23:58 GMT) - 35,000 feet over northeastern Canada, heading back out over the open Atlantic, AmAnSet in my headphones. From here it's nothing but ocean until we hit the UK. My second trip there, but the first was so long ago that it all feels new. I've been on proba |

Spam is 10 Years Old (Mar 06 2004 23:57 GMT) - Today (5 March) marks the tenth anniversary of what is generally considered the first spam message. On this day in 1994, US law firm Canter and Siegel posted a message on several Usenet newsgroups advertising its services to people interested in participating in the US Green Card lottery. These days we’d barely bat an eyelid at such a message but at the time it was considered as appalling breach of “netiquette” |

Song for Spring (Mar 06 2004 23:56 GMT) - Is it spring yet? Sure feels like it. Camelias are blooming like crazy, Amy planting up a storm, I fertilized the lawn with Scott's Turf Builder (amazing stuff!). For no particular reason, in the mood to celebrate with Jimmy Webb's glorious lyrics to "MacArthur Park" (made famous by Richard Harris, Donna Summer, Frank Sinatra, take your pick). |

Fusion power deja vu? (Mar 06 2004 23:55 GMT) - Call me cautious if you will, but I will wait a while before jumping for joy over this potentially wonderful news: U.S. researchers will soon publish strong evidence of a recipe to generate fusion power with tiny bubbles, which does sound like a modern witch's brew. The power source is ultrasonic noise aimed at a clear glass canister whose size would qualify as a grande latte in a coffee house. |

One of my loyal RelCath readers was right (Mar 06 2004 23:55 GMT) - He wrote me last week, wondering if Michael Coren had been fired from LifeSite after writing a column criticizing The Passion (and perhaps more to the point, getting in a few digs at popular Catholic piety). Being a Professional Media Person, I wrote back something like, well, we shouldn't read too much into these things. Coren has just been signed as a Western Standard columnist, after all; maybe the prolific pro-lifer realized something had to go...Well: |

the apartment-hunting has begun (Mar 06 2004 23:54 GMT) - LK and I have made a decision to move from our idyllic Carroll Gardens apartment (+basement and private yard) into something more affordable. Today we looked at a couple of rent-stabilized (!) places in Red Hook. The first was a very spacious three-bedroom first-floor apartment which costs only about 75% of our current rent amount. The second was a very sunny and spacious one-bedroom third-floor apartment (+ roof access, I think) costing less than half the amount of our current rent. |
