Peaceful Religion Watch (Mar 16 2004 02:15 GMT) - The terror attacks in Spain unleashed a hellish torrent of hatred in the mosques of the Middle East last Friday, emboldening the imams and sheikhs of even the most "moderate" Islamic countries to scream for Jewish and Crusader blood. I haven't seen these freaks this worked up for quite a ... |

I am Not a Terrorist Cards (Mar 16 2004 02:13 GMT) - "I am Not a Terrorist" Cards In the latest issue of Crypto-Gram (which has a new RSS Feed (w00t!)), Bruce Schneier takes an in-depth look at Steve Brill's proposed "Verified Identity Card" (or V-ID), which would be a totally privitized form of a voluntary national ID. Schneier's analysis, as usual, is incredibly detailed, yet easy to understand, but he misses one thing. Why does Brill want access to terrorist watch lists? If, as Brill goes to great lengths to point out, these cards are meant only to verify identity and not disclose any level of trust, why are people on the terrorist watch list (or people with a "significant, relevant criminal record") going to be precluded from getting one if they can prove they are who they say they are? |

Tickets (Mar 16 2004 02:11 GMT) - Our first indication that things were awry might have been the accusation that the two of us were cops. The second indication might have been that the tickets looked to have been printed on an ink jet printer. This I noted immediately, but never having seen a ticket from MSG, I had no idea what they looked like. But, we each gave them $50. Well, actually, I gave them $51. |

Volcanic Stone (Mar 16 2004 02:10 GMT) - As promised, photos of our Volcanic stone bedroom: Excuse the mess... the room isn't put together fully yet. I love the new mirror we mounted on the wall, we needed something to break up that particular giant wall and we needed another mirror in the house. On the list of 'to look for' to finish the room, I would like to find a little padded stool for sitting in front of the mirror for girly business and a new area rug. |

Elle de Jurists might be the next Belle de Jour (Mar 16 2004 02:09 GMT) - I stole that from a comment posted in response to Nft(L)U Evan's post: Go Ahead and Yell, Just Promise Not to Blog. It might be an "absolute gem" as one commentator says or might be legal fiction as another points out. If you want to know what it means then you have to go and read the aforementioned post and full comments ... and it still may not be clear. |
