I have some writing to ... (Mar 27 2004 00:58 GMT) - I have some writing to do this weekend so I can spend next week in Florida. I bought several books today for beach reading. The big one is Ghost Wars by Steve Coll. It was recommended to me by a reader, and I had heard an interview with the author on NPR and thought it was interesting. I almost bought Richard Clarke's book, but I'll read Ghost Wars first. |

Opportunity was briefly AOL (Mar 27 2004 00:55 GMT) - It was mentioned in the briefing today. But it didn’t sink in till I thought about it later. Opportunity was instructed to climb out of the crater then turn right and drive for a short distance, all in one command. What happened instead is that it tried to drive out, but got stuck spinning its wheels. Then it executed the “turn and drive to the right” command and in doing so wound up right back where it had started earlier. |
