On a Sunny Afternoon (Mar 29 2004 14:47 GMT) - You probably missed the B1 piece of the Demonstrators Swarm Around Rove's Home">Washington Post this morning. Several hundred people "stormed" Karl Rove's yard yesterday, "pounding on his windows, shoving signs at others and challenging Rove to talk to them" about the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAMAct). The bill would permit long time resident immigrants, young people with "good moral character," to obtain legal permanent resident status once they graduate from high... |

Information Radiator (Mar 29 2004 14:47 GMT) - What a nice term this is: Information Radiator. I've often very successfully solved some organizational problem by creating just such a device. More than once I've improved the quality of a large piece of software by just creating a concise report of current status and placing in someplace were people would notice it. The trick, from my point of view, is less to collect the data than how you manage to present it. |

Back when everything depended on ... (Mar 29 2004 14:47 GMT) - Back when everything depended on the little idol that you worshiped as a group, it was rare for someone to walk in and stomp the idol to dust just to see your reaction. 9 times out of ten, the person would be dead. Every once in a while, the people worshiping would look at each other and say, "you know, he's right, this is all bullshit". Today, we have plenty of icon stompers and if I wanted to be one and I went into some center and stomped on their little statues, they would be like, "thanks.... its been a good 5 minutes since anyone did that. |

White House concedes Bush asked about Iraq (Mar 29 2004 14:45 GMT) - The White House has acknowledged that on the day after the September 11 terror attacks President George Bush asked his top counter-terrorism adviser, Richard Clarke, to find out whether Iraq was involved. Mr Bush wanted to know "did Iraq have anything to do with this? Were they complicit in it?"
