Reflectance (Apr 15 2004 23:56 GMT) - I understand that the Rovers take photos through various filters and deduce rock types from the intensities of the recieved light at various wavelengths. I also note that the rovers take photos of the same rocks at different times of day. Do scientists use this the reflectance of the rocks under different Solar illuminations to deduce more about rock types ? - Sorry if this question has been answered in NASA TV briefings, but I can't find replays on the NASA MER site - although it is so full of useless, outdated pages that they could well be buried in there, somewhere. |
