BloggerCon: Mary Hodder (Apr 17 2004 11:56 GMT) - BloggerCon: Mary HodderLovely to meet Mary Hodder from Technorati -- not the politician from Canada or whoever that is. Another Google issue she was explaining -- how the other Mary Hodder was ahead of her in the Google line a while back and now they've switched places. I'm not sure how I missed meeting her before but we had a pile of friends in common and she had so many interesting things to say. She was more than generous about hearing the many compliments I had for the new Technorati user interface -- also the gripes. |

Haram Imam Urges Muslims to Foil Attacks by Terrorists (Apr 17 2004 11:56 GMT) - Haram Imam Urges Muslims to Foil Attacks by Terrorists (Arab News) - The imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia told Muslims yesterday it was their duty to foil terror attacks as the Kingdom battles Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists. Describing the terrorists as “deviants” and “outcasts”, the imam, Sheikh Saleh Bin-Humaid, told thousands of worshipers who thronged the Grand Mosque to inform authorities about them. “This misguided lot " whose “ aim is to sow chaos and instability in our nation,” he said, “have branded Muslims and their leaders as infidels and God will curse them and send them straight to hell because they kill fellow Muslims and terrorize them. “Terror will not change politics, it will only bring destruction and could open the way for foreigners to intervene. It is not lawful to protect these deviants and all of us should denounce them,” Bin-Humaid added. |

BloggerCon: Jeff Jarvis (Apr 17 2004 11:53 GMT) - BloggerCon: Jeff JarvisJeff is cursed with as much non-stop energy as I have, poor man! We had fun talking about the nearly impossible obstacles to getting a computer to the Iraqi bloggers. Also blog advertising models and what's coming down the pipe or better expressed, what NEEDS to and how that might evolve. Henry Copeland, were your ears buzzing? |

Global Energy Demand Up 54% ... (Apr 17 2004 11:51 GMT) - Global Energy Demand Up 54% by 2025: Nearly half of this expected oil increase will presumably be supplied by OPEC, which would need to pump up its production from 27 million bpd this year up to a projected 56 million bpd in 2025. Does anyone see a problem with this picture? Given the foment in the Middle East, engendered by our War on Iraq, I can imagine the OPEC nations restricting their output as an act of political retribution. [http: |
