Why National ID Cards Will Not Make Us More Secure (Apr 18 2004 23:25 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - "The potential privacy encroachments of an ID card system are far from minor. And the interruptions and delays caused by incessant ID checks could easily proliferate into a persistent traffic jam in office lobbies and airports and hospital waiting rooms and shopping malls. But my primary objection i... |

Rodin Rodino, Music from the Congo (Apr 18 2004 23:24 GMT) - by Susan Budig The face of America is changing. This is not news. However, that a new cultural rhythm challenges the stalwart Northern European who migrated to Minnesota over two hundred years ago, and that this rhythm brings with it sounds and tastes and ethnic hues that shock us to our Scandinavian roots, is news. Ushering in the vibes of Africa on March 12th, Congolese Rodin Rodino, along with members of his band from Top Muzika sang and swayed their hips in an amazing demonstration of Congolese music. These musicians, joined on stage by the musical band, Soukous Stars, and storyteller Nothondo Zulu, provided over 130 people with a diverse and exciting concert. |

The music of today ... (Apr 18 2004 23:23 GMT) - So, the record companies today all blame pirating and whatnot on decreased record sales. Well, how the hell they think they are going to make money off of someone like William Hung? He has less than no talent, seems to be oblivious to the fact that fact and is pretty much the laughing stock of the world right now. Do they really think this is going to be anything more than a flash in the pan? Do they think they are going to sell millions of records or crap like this? |

Gang History (Apr 18 2004 23:21 GMT) - Gangs have been in existence for as long as there have been inhabitants of this world. The word thug dates back to India in the year 1200 AD and it refers to a gang of criminals (Thugz) that roamed the country pillaging towns in their course. These Thugz had their own symbols, hand signs, rituals and slang. In the United States, we grew up with tales of our own form of thugs like pirates and gangsters, therefore, gangs, undoubtedly, are not a new concept. |
