N.H. Official Seeks to Help With Bill (Apr 19 2004 07:59 GMT) - The state attorney general's office has intervened on behalf of a couple who ran up more than $3,400 in phone bills after running an America Online program designed to improve their Internet connection. Ken Pedersen, 67, of Litchfield, said he ran AOL's AutoFix on Feb. 26 because he kept losing his Internet connection. |

NYU's A Pill (Apr 19 2004 07:56 GMT) - The Post reports that more NYU students than ever are on antidepressants. According to the Post, internal reports show that NYU's mental health services are prescriping three times more pills, like Xanax and BuSpar, versus five years ago; additionally, Clozapine, the anti-psychotic drug, has a 173% increase in usage. This may be due to the fact that more people are actually getting attention for their mental health needs, with the the growing nationwide acceptance with combatting depression, especially in young people (see Prozac Nation). But NYU's spokesman also notes that "We're seeing more students who might not have graduated high school without the medication. |

Daffodil Classic 2004 (Apr 19 2004 07:55 GMT) - Time to build more condos! I rode Tacoma Wheelmen's Daffodil Classic again this year. The ride starts in Orting, WA, a town northwest of Mt. Rainier. Signs labeled "Volcano Evacuation Route" abound, though the routes don't look like they'd be the easiest to follow. |
