Leadership - Influence their cells and the rest will follow [Derek Jones] (Apr 19 2004 16:59 GMT) - We are all designed, as human beings, to respond to change as if our lives depended upon it. Often our lives do depend on how we respond. Change has effects that ripple not just through the structures and processes of an organisation, but down to the level of a single cell in each of our bodies. Leaders are no different in this – they are affected too. When we actively feel something, it is truly engaging our whole physiology and not just our thoughts and imagination. |

The Fine Print (Apr 19 2004 16:59 GMT) - Reader Rick Barton sends me an interesting article from yesterday's New York Times. It describes a little-noted byproduct of Nafta: "It's basically been under the radar screen," Peter Spiro, a law professor at Hofstra University, said. "But it points to a fundamental reorientation of our constitutional system. You have an international tribunal essentially reviewing American court judgments. |

The Net and Political Change (Apr 19 2004 16:58 GMT) - Mitch Kapor: Korea and the Political Promise of the Net. For someone who looked ahead with optimism over a decade ago on the Net's role in revitalizing our democracy and helping create a more peaceful global community, the Net's first political steps are a very hopeful contrast in a world in which those prospects seem obscured in deepening shadows. The question is where do we go next? |

uh oh (Apr 19 2004 16:57 GMT) - My 2 year blogaversary is coming up soon. In practical terms this means that the comments on the "Pre MT UCCU" pages are likely to vaporize as my yearly contract with Userland blissfully slides into the past. So, the question is, having rescued them all, do I try to reconstitute them or just save them in the same repository that contains my 12 year old emails? I think I'll wait on that. Never know what'll happen. |
