Eyewitness To History (Apr 20 2004 12:59 GMT) - Eyewitness to History's purported goal is to depict "history through the eyes of those who lived it," and it does a very good job. The site contains hundred of eyewitness accounts of historical events, organizing them into different historical periods. I've only visited a fraction of the site, but I must say that I'm entranced by what I've seen so far... |

Button Builder 4 makes a splash! - A First Look! (Apr 20 2004 12:58 GMT) - In the beginning it was called “Aquamatic”, a tool so cool Apple had a fit. As a matter of fact, Aquamatic was so good at building Apple’s magical Aqua buttons that they insisted Realmac Software change the name, and some of the features. In it’s 3+ years of development it kept getting better and better, and with version 4 it reaches a level where you can easily imagine that BB4 would become a part of Xcode (Apple’s set of applications used by developer’s to build Apple software).... |

Intermission (Apr 20 2004 12:57 GMT) - | synopsis | trailer Oh man, I don't know what it is, but Irish and British movies just mostly don't do it for me. I guess it's a lot about the dialect why I can't fully enjoy a story. It's as if I had to watch German movies in hardcore Saxony dialect. I'd keep cringing. But okay, it's a movie, Intermission is not a bad one, it's intense in parts. |

Songs From The Back Porch (Apr 20 2004 12:54 GMT) - Jolie Holland Escondida (Anti 6692, 2004) Thankfully the transition from lo-fi spare room demo to recording studio hasn't harmed the sound or spirit of Jolie Holland's work. Catalpa was a rare and mysteriously compelling release that relied, for some of its charm at least, on the surroundings in which it was made. The clarity of this new one enhances rather than detracts from the seductive qualities of the former and ensures the intimacy of her singing is still the CD's prime focus. Her unforced phrasing and wonderful accent are captured intact and deliver the songs in a way that is, perhaps, unique. |
