News from the North - my favourite news story of the day [Lydia Bates [The Art Finder]] (Apr 26 2004 23:34 GMT) - If this man really thinks he was sacked just for saying he was on blind date then he really is as mad as I always thought he was. Mind you, I probably ought not say that, he's already threatened to sue me once, I had the pleasure of being a tennant of his (he being a live-in landlord) for 4 months when I was at university. I'm just glad that he has given up any chance of getting a job as a doctor in this country - sick people everywhere should be breathing a sigh of relief Lydia |

Bootcamp Day 74 (Delayed) -- Raw (Apr 26 2004 23:33 GMT) - Raw warns you that it "may include frequent explicit language". I guess that's fair -- while I was listening, there were occasional periods of as much as five or six seconds with not one word of "explicit language", but then they made up for it. The good news about listening to Raw in my office was that I could turn it off, unlike hearing it coming from the car three lanes over on the highway. |

Bootcamp Day 72 (Delayed) -- Extreme XM (Apr 26 2004 23:33 GMT) - Extreme XM calls itself "Gonzo Radio at Its Most Warped". I tuned in during the news, which was just fine; then they continued with last Friday's broadcast of the Phil Hendrie Show. I lasted through the first few minutes, while they were setting up an elaborate gag to protest the FCC's recent indecency fines, but it wasn't worth sitting through the commercials for male enhancement products to get to the payoff (if I wanted to know more about male enhancement products, all I'd have to do is read my spam!). |

Prosser High School wee bit touchy (Apr 26 2004 23:32 GMT) - Prosser High School teacher sees 15 year old student's war artwork depicting President Bush as a devil and another decapitated. Captions include calling an end to the war, and support for Ralph Nadar. Teacher hands artwork over to school administrators, who in turn bring in the Secret Service. Because that's what you do when you've handed out an assignment to kids " |

How to get me to not try an app (Apr 26 2004 23:31 GMT) - I ran across MSNBC's Wireless Traveler app and downloaded loaded it to see if it might be of use to keep track of news while I'm travelling. The app pulls news and video down from the MSNBC site when connected. However, after I downloaded and installed the program, it popped up a dialog that told me I needed to supply an email address in order to get a password. Hah. I'm not falling for that one. |

New Iraqi Flag (Apr 26 2004 23:31 GMT) - I don't care what it looks like, as long as it burns easily and looks good draped on coffins when the Kurds fight for and eventually win their independence.... |

New Iraqi Flag Meets With Public Disapproval (Apr 26 2004 23:30 GMT) - WASHINGTON POST: New Iraqi Flag Meets With Public Disapproval It was supposed to be the perfect symbol for a new and unified Iraq: an Islamic crescent on a field of pure white, with two blue stripes representing the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and a third yellow stripe to symbolize the country’s Kurdish minority. But the new national flag, presented Monday after an artistic competition sponsored by the Iraqi Governing Council, appears to have met with widespread public disapproval here — |
