The Religious Policeman (Apr 28 2004 02:59 GMT) - Its not easy to find a blog that is so fascinating that you go back and read the whole thing from the beginning, but Saudi blogger The Religious Policeman certainly fits that category. Absolutely fascinating stuff, the culture, the Government, the religion, as well as the fact that the blogger is so far removed, but so much alike any of us at the same time. I loved the parts about how technology is being used to skirt the rules or how technology is changing the rules. Read it! |

Well, Satan DID Plant Those Dinosaur Bones (Apr 28 2004 02:59 GMT) - Well, Satan DID Plant Those Dinosaur Bones At least that's what one FARKer thought. This does give me cause for concern about the direction this country is going: Although scientific input to the government is rarely the only factor in public policy decisions, this input should always be weighed from an objective and impartial perspective to avoid perilous consequences.... The administration of George W. Bush has, however, disregarded this principle. |

Attachment Parenting: A loving and compassionate approach to raising children

A key parenting virtue: patience (Apr 28 2004 02:59 GMT) - A most amazing thing has occurred in the last two days: G-, our four year old son, decided that he didn't want training wheels on his bicycle any more, so he took them off and *instantly* knew how to ride without them. It's quite a remarkable sequence of events and hard to realize that it's only been 48 hours when he zips down the driveway, turns onto the sidewalk and confidently rides up to the next driveway to turn around. More than just bicycling, though, it's a fine example of one of the secret arts of good parenting: patience. |

Apache Cookbook (Apr 28 2004 02:55 GMT) - One of the books that hasn't left my desk in the last month has been Apache Cookbook. Betweeen setting up web services at work, tweaking with the tools that support this site, plus the implementations I have been experimenting with in Atom, it has been in constant sight. The nice part about Apache Cookbook, like all of the books in the O'Reilly Cookbook series, is that the content is task oriented. The content ranges over a wide set of topics and covers basic as well as more advanced topics. For example, there are recipes for "Installing Apache on Windows", "Tuning Thread Creation", and "Preventing Your Proxy Server from Being Used as an Open Mail Relay. |
