Witnesses at Nichols Trial Recall Chaos (Apr 29 2004 04:59 GMT) - The voice rose faint and muffled. "Help me!" Police and rescue workers stood silent in the rubble as they listened to the woman, trying to find her in the wreckage of the Oklahoma City federal building. They made their way in the direction the sound seemed to come from. But each time they stopped to listen again, they were no closer. |

Not Quite Rhetorical (Apr 29 2004 04:58 GMT) - This website estimates an average of 21 legally-purchased-from-iTunes songs per iPod, and then poses the question "Where do you think the rest of the tracks come from?". The suggestion of course is that the remainder are illegally obtained from file-sharing, and this presumption is used in turn as the basis of an argument for a new music business / distribution model. I'm all for a new music distribution model, but this argument is misleading... The overwhelming majority of the 5,000+ tracks on my iPod came from encoding my CD collection. |

WiFi + planes = warflying (Apr 29 2004 04:58 GMT) - We took off on parallel runways and flew in formation throughout the flight. While the planes were next to each other, we set up an in-flight wireless network and did a videoconferencing session from plane-to-plane. WiFi in the sky! Additionally, we performed a wireless network survey during the flight and found about 4000 access points. link [Boing Boing] |

When did we hear this before? (Apr 29 2004 04:58 GMT) - First it was the Secretary of Education that called the National Education Association of being a "terrorist organization." Now, Karen Hughes calls the millions of women (including Christian women) who marched last Sunday for reproductive rights, terrorists. “President Bush has worked to say, let's be reasonable, let's work to value life, let's try to reduce the number of abortions, let's increase adoptions … really the fundamental difference between us and the terror network... |

AskJeeves profits from Google, wants ISH (Apr 29 2004 04:58 GMT) - It could happen, Rusty. I've always liked the natural language question type query that Ask Jeeves has championed. I guess I should add "Jeeves" to the spell check dictionary, especially in light of the search engine's recent growth. :) |
