Idiots (complete with a big list of idiots) (Apr 29 2004 23:54 GMT) - Useful Idiots Mona Charen Regnery, 2003 It must have struck many people besides myself that anti-Americanism, so much a world-wide sentiment and problem, is, to an extent it is hard to quantify, an American export. No nation, surely, has produced such a large volume of self-criticism, proceeding through self-denigration to self-hatred. Is it surprising that the rest of the world has listened to, copied, and amplified the message? Yet it was not always so; indeed... |

The Daily BBC? (Apr 29 2004 23:54 GMT) - As a rule (well, more of a 'guideline' really) I do not fisk the 'readers letters' section of media organs. There is no objectively good reason for me to refrain from doing so except that I regard it as bad form; rather too close to bullying for comfort. After all, the whole point of 'readers letters' sections is for the public to let off some steam and drawing attention to the wild and woolly nature... |

War is Hell As under ... (Apr 29 2004 23:52 GMT) - War is Hell As under Bush or Kerry we will be "staying the course" in Iraq, I thought it would be a good time to remind those who favor bringing the UN in to solve the problem that such a move is not going to impress many of the natives in Iraq. From a Village Voice photographer in Somalia 1997 we have this photo record of UN peacekeepers in action. These Belgian trained troops were raised in the best socialist schools oppressive taxation |

Curses, foiled again (Apr 29 2004 23:50 GMT) - I've always been an electric razor guy. I think I've only tried to shave with a "real" razor once or twice, but I just never felt like continuing long enough to really learn how. Anyway, I use a Braun Flex Integral, which is a foil razor (the big debate is foil versus rotary, but I've used both and I like foil the best, even though my Dad uses a rotary). Earlier this week my foil developed a tear, which meant two things: I cut my face a little (no biggie) and I couldn't shave anymore! |
