remember me on this computer? (Apr 30 2004 01:39 GMT) - Setting a cookie to remember username and password sounds easy but I've been going in circles deciding upon how it should be done...... Accepting such a cookie on a public computer is a security risk - but remembering passwords is so common a feature now that it is often expected........ Should the cookie be deleted when the user logs out? That would mean that the user information is not kept for next time which isn't very helpful and not clear at all......... And the user's details would only be remembered if they navigated away from the site without logging out - not good practice. |

Links of interest (2004-04-29): (Apr 30 2004 01:37 GMT) - "...releasing a product as a form of open source has many other marketing benefits and can lead to greater user satisfaction and wider use. The question is, of course, can you make money that way?" "[In Iraq] a loose federation will have many drawbacks, especially for those who dreamed of a democratic Iraq that would transform the Middle East [but] the alternative is an indefinite US occupation of Iraq in which we have fewer and fewer allies. It is an occupation that the US cannot afford. |
